Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information ShuttInk collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email support@shuttink.app.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, username and password. Passwords are stored securely by our sign-in provider; we never see them in plain text.
- Profile: your bio, profile photo, showcase photos, profile frame, banner and badge, your camera and goal lists, and your octopus’s name and look.
- Photos and posts: the weekly and daily photos you submit, along with details you add such as a Digital or Film tag and film stamp.
- Activity: your votes, comments, friends and friend requests, theme suggestions, streaks, shutter balance, items, and rankings.
- Messages to us: feedback, problem reports and emails you send us.
Camera and photo library
ShuttInk only uses your camera or photo library when you choose to take or pick a photo. Before uploading, photos are re-saved as JPEG images, which normally removes embedded camera details such as location.
What we don’t collect
ShuttInk doesn’t show ads, doesn’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and doesn’t access your location, contacts or other apps.
How we use your information
- To run ShuttInk: show your photos and profile, count votes, run rankings and pay out prizes, and keep track of streaks and items.
- To sign you in and to send account emails, such as the code that confirms your email address.
- To keep ShuttInk fair and safe, for example by limiting each email inbox to one account.
- To answer your questions and fix problems you report.
Who can see your information
Public to everyone using ShuttInk: your username, profile, photos and posts, comments, streaks, octopus, and rankings.
Private: your email address, password, and any feedback or reports you send us.
Services we use
We rely on a few trusted providers to run ShuttInk. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage.
- Resend: sends account emails, such as confirmation codes.
- Expo: delivers app updates to your device.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and forwards email sent to our support address.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for advertising.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Settings → Privacy → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, photos, posts, votes, comments, friends, shutters and items. You can also ask us to delete it by emailing support@shuttink.app from the address on your account. Copies may remain in our providers’ backups for a limited time before they’re removed.
Children
ShuttInk isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use secure, encrypted connections and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don’t use anywhere else.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page, and let you know in the app for any important changes.
